CBP's ACE Truck Manifest Pilot Set to Begin in Blaine, WA in December 2004
According to CBP, the pilot test of electronic truck manifest capability is set to begin in Blaine, WA in December 2004. CBP notes that training is scheduled to begin in November 2004.
CBP has previously stated that its ACE Truck Manifest pilot will be conducted using a phased approach. See ITT's Online Archives or 09/14/04 news, 04091410, for previous BP summary on CBP's plans for ACE Truck Manifest.
CBP states that the Blaine launch of "e-Manifest: Trucks" represents the first time ACE will be implemented on a port-wide basis. With the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) participation, it also represents the first time a federal agency outside of CBP will be able to use ACE to provide and obtain information.

According to CBP, the next six ports to receive ACE and the schedule for such expansion are as follows:
Buffalo, NY | January 2005 |
Detroit, MI and Port Huron, MI | March 2005 |
Champlain, NY | mid March 2005 |
Laredo, TX | April 2005 |
Otay Mesa, CA | mid-April 2005 |
