The Journal of Commerce Online (JoC Online) has reported that as of 7 a.m. on September 13, 2004, the Ports of Tampa, Manatee, and St. Petersburg, FL were reopened to normal vessel traffic. In addition, JoC Online reports that Port Canaveral's harbor re-opened on Friday to ships with drafts of as much as 28 feet. 2. WTO Panel Issues Mixed Verdict in U.S. Cotton Case
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a press release announcing that a World Trade Organization (WTO) panel has issued a mixed verdict in a dispute brought by Brazil challenging several types of U.S. agricultural support measures, including support for cotton farmers. 2. Coast Guard's Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee, Etc. to Meet
The Coast Guard has announced that the Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) and its subcommittees will hold open meetings on September 29-30, 2004 to discuss various issues relating to the marine transportation of hazardous materials in bulk. 3. FTC Issues Corrections to 16 CFR 305 on Sample Labels for Appliances
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a notice containing corrections to the sample labels in 16 CFR Part 305 (revised as of January 1, 2004), which contains the Appliance Labeling Rule. 4. President Continues Exercise of Certain Trading With the Enemy Act Authorities
On September 10, 2004, the President determined to continue for one year the exercise of certain authorities under the Trading with the Enemy Act. According to the President's determination, the exercise of these authorities will be continued with respect to countries affected by the Foreign Assets Control Regulations (31 CFR Part 500), the Transaction Control Regulations (31 CFR Part 505), and the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (31 CFR Part 515).
