ITA Is Accepting Applications for Allocations of 2005 TRQs for Worsted Wool Fabrics
The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice announcing that it is accepting applications from persons (including firms, corporations, or other legal entities) who cut and sew men's and boys' worsted wool suits and suit-like jackets and trousers in the U.S. for an allocation of the 2005 tariff rate quotas (TRQs) for:

worsted wool fabric with average fiber diameters greater than 18.5 microns (total 2005 TRQ level of 4,500,000 square meters), as provided by HTS 9902.51.11 (apply using Form ITA-4139P); and
worsted wool fabric with average fiber diameters of 18.5 microns or less (total 2005 TRQ level of 3,500,000 square meters), as provided by HTS 9902.51.12 (apply using Form ITA-4140P).
The ITA states that in order to be considered, applications must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. on September 24, 2004. According to the ITA, application forms and instructions are available at http://web.ita.doc.gov/tacgi/wooltrq.nsf/TRQApp.
ITA to Notify Applicants of 2005 TRQ Allocations, Etc.
The ITA states that it will publish in the Federal Register its determination to allocate the 2005 TRQs and will notify applicants of their respective allocation as soon as possible after that date. Promptly thereafter, the ITA will issue licenses to eligible applicants.
Program Runs through 2005; Bill Introduced to Extend Program Through 2010
According to the ITA, the Trade Act of 2002 extended this program through December 31, 2005. (H.R. 4287, which was introduced and referred to the House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees on May 5, 2004, would, among other things, extend this program through December 31, 2010.
