78-Hour Outage Begins June 5, 2004, During Which No Shipments Will be Queued

Census states that AES will experience a 78-hour outage during the cutover of the new requirements. The outage will take place from 12:01 a.m. EST on June 5, 2004 through 6:00 a.m. EST on June 8, 2004.

Census states that AES filers will not be able to file shipments during this outage and advises that shipments sent during the outage will not be queued and will be rejected.

Census states that licensable shipments can be filed up until 4:00 p.m. EST on June 4, 2004 and all other shipments should be filed by 12:00 am EST on June 5, 2004.

AES Filers Should Test New AES Requirements

Census strongly advises AES filers to begin testing the new requirements in the AES Education region as the redesign entails format changes, stricter validations and new filing requirements. Census states that filers should not delay as there are fewer than 30 days remaining for testing (as of May 6, 2004).

Census adds that if a filer will not be ready for the June 8, 2004 implementation, they should begin to explore another option for filing export shipments, such as filing through Census' free internet application, AESDirect.
