The Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) has issued a notice stating that it is seeking nominations for 15 qualified persons to serve on the Advisory Committee on Emerging Markets. According to FAS, this committee will provide information and advice, based upon knowledge and expertise of the members, useful to the Department of Agriculture (USDA) in implementing the Emerging Markets Program (EMP). Written nominations must be received by FAS by 5 p.m. on May 26, 2004. 3. NRC and DOT Solicit Proposed Changes to the Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the U.S. Department of Transortation (DOT) have announced that they are jointly seeking proposed changes to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material (referred to as TS-R-1). NRC states that it is able to assure consideration only for proposed changes received on or before June 7, 2004. 4. Marine Transportation System Advisory Council to Hold Public Meeting

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) has announced that the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Council (MTSNAC) will hold a meeting on May 3-4, 2004 in Chicago, IL to discuss MTS needs and other relevant issues, regional MTS outreach initiatives, Council team assignments, and other issues. In addition to the scheduled public comment period, written comments may be submitted by May 11, 2004.
