St. Louis and Des Plaines Next Sites in FMC Series of Informational Seminars for Shipping Industry
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) has posted to its Web site a notice detailing its next upcoming informational seminars entitled, Navigating the Regulations, which will be held in St. Louis, MO and Des Plaines, IL on April 6 & 8, 2004, respectively. The FMC states that these seminars provide an overview of the responsibilities of vessel operators, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs) and maritime shipping services users in U.S. foreign trades.

The FMC notes that there is no charge for either of these seminars; however, interested parties should indicate their intend to attend these seminars by April 1, 2004 via email, telephone, or fax so that appropriate facilities and materials can be provided.
The FMC adds that the conference facilities for both seminars require that all attendees have picture identification with them for entrance into the buildings.
Seminars Are Part of Series Being Conducted at Various Locations in the U.S.
The FMC has previously issued a news release, which announced that it has initiated a series of informational seminars to be conducted by the FMC's Area Representatives and other FMC personnel at various locations around the country.
According to this news release, the seminars will provide information to the industry and the shipping public with respect to the FMC's functions and services, as well as instruction regarding the regulatory obligations of providers and users of ocean liner shipping services in the U.S. foreign trades which are administered by the FMC.
The FMC also stated that it will post specific information regarding the times and locations of the seminars on its Web site (www.fmc.gov), as available, and will advertise locally at the seminar cities.
