ITC Lists "Known Errors" in the Current Version of the 2004 HTS

The International Trade Commission (ITC) has posted to its Web site a list of corrections to known errors discovered after the printing of the 2004 Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. (HTS).

According to the ITC, most of the errors are of a typographical nature that will be corrected with the publication of the next electronic revision or printed supplement to the 2004 HTS. The ITC further states that these corrections will be listed in the HTS Change Record, where appropriate.

The ITC's list includes corrections to 89 HTS numbers and notes in the following HTS Chapters: 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 39, 40, 41, 65, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, 81, 82, 87, 91, 92, 93, 96, and 98.

Examples of the types corrections included on the ITC's list are (partial list):

the addition, deletion, or amendment of various Special Program Indicators (e.g., SG, JO, IL, J, E, CA etc.) and/or duty rates in the Column 1 "Special" subcolumn for certain HTS numbers

changes to the Column 1 duty rates

the addition and deletion of certain HTS numbers
