USTR Announces Product Petitions Which Have Been Accepted for 2003 GSP Annual Review, Etc
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a notice announcing the product petitions that have been accepted for further review in the 2003 Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) Annual Review.

The USTR states that this notice also sets forth the schedule for comment and public hearing, etc. on these 2003 petitions, and on certain product petitions from previous reviews in 2001 and 2002 on which there was a deferral of decisions.
In addition, the USTR announces that full reviews will not be initiated for any of the 2003 country practice petitions submitted.
Product Petitions Accepted for 2003 GSP Product Review, Etc.
The USTR states that the interagency GSP Subcommittee of the Trade Policy Staff Committee (TPSC) has reviewed the product petitions for 2003, and has decided to initiate a full review of ten of them.
According to the USTR, acceptance of a petition for review does not indicate any opinion with respect to the disposition on the merits of the petition, and acceptance indicates only that the listed petitions have been found eligible for review by the TPSC and that such review will take place.

USTR's Schedule for Public Hearings and Submission of Comments, Etc.
The USTR states that the TPSC's GSP Subcommittee public hearings will be held on April 1, 2004. Pre-hearing briefs and requests to appear at the public hearings are due on March 15, 2004, and post-hearing and rebuttal briefs are due on April 15, 2004. The USTR adds that the annual review decisions are scheduled to be announced on approximately June 30, 2004.
