2. June 2002 Guidance on Recording AWB Data in ACS
CBP issued a memo in June 2002 regarding the input of air waybill (AWB) data in the aircraft entrance and clearance module of the Automated Commercial System (ACS). According to CBP, the goal is to measure the total number of individual consignments of freight aboard the aircraft at the port of arrival. CBP states that timely and accurate information regarding the air cargo manifest is necessary for the carrier post audit procedure. This memo provides examples of types of aircraft arrivals and the correct number air waybill count. 3. President Bush Visits CBP's New National Targeting Center Facilities
CBP has issued a press release regarding the February 6, 2004 visit by President Bush, Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, CBP Commissioner Robert Bonner and others to CBP's National Targeting Center in Virginia. According to the press release, the NTC, which moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility in January 2003, uses automated risk management at a national level to provide tactical targeting expertise to support U.S. anti-terrorism efforts.
