On January 15, 2004, President Bush issued Executive Order (EO) 13324, effective 12:01 a.m. EST on January 16, 2004. EO 13324 terminates the national emergency which was originally declared in EO 13194 (Sierra Leone) and the scope of which was expanded in EO 13213 (Liberia). 2. DHS Publishes Privacy Impact Assessment for US-VISIT Program, Etc.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a notice announcing that it has conducted a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) with respect to the U.S.-Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology Program (US-VISIT, Increment 1). The DHS' PIA was published on January 4, 2004 and is available at www.dhs.gov/privacy. DHS has also issued a correction to its January 5, 2004 Federal Register notice on the US-VISIT program. According to DHS, the January 5, 2004 notice listed an incorrect phone number for Officer Steve Yonkers. This error is now corrected to reflect the correct phone number of (202) 298-5200. 3. FDA Issues Responses to Commonly Asked Questions About BSE

The Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) has issued a document which contains responses to commonly asked questions about bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, also commonly referred to as 'mad cow disease') in products it regulates. 4. CPSC Provisional Settlement with E&B Giftware, LLC on Citronella Candles

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a notice stating that it has provisionally accepted a settlement agreement with E&B Giftware, LLC., which contains a civil penalty of $100,000, to settle allegations regarding defective "Money to Burn Torch" citronella candles (Style No. 330N). Written requests for the CPSC to not accept this agreement and other comments are due by February 11, 2004.
