Broker Power’s List of 2004 Duty Rates for Wool Knit Apparel

Broker Power has listed the 2004 general (column 1) duty rates for certain knit and crocheted apparel that is subject to a wool/fine animal hair (wool) category number. (The fiber that is in chief weight is the first fiber in the written description.)

Notes and Disclaimer for Knit Wool Apparel List

Clients should note that this listing excludes the general (column 1) duty rates for:

  • overalls, pantyhose, tights, shawls, scarves, ties, coveralls, and certain other apparel items in cat 459;
  • hosiery in cat 432;
  • articles imported as parts of ensembles, as accessories (e.g. scarves, gloves), or as apparel or accessory parts; and
  • garments “subject to restraints.”

As used in this listing, the term:

  • Knit includes knit or crocheted
  • Wool means the natural fiber grown by sheep or lambs; whereas, fine animal hair means the hair of alpaca, llama, vicuna, camel, yak, Angora, Tibetan, Kashmir, or similar goats (but not common goats), rabbit (including Angora rabbit), hare, beaver, nutria, or muskrat. However, in this guide the term “wool” refers to both wool and/or fine animal hair, unless noted otherwise (e.g., some duty rates in the guide are for items “wholly of cashmere,” some items are described as “wool” in the guide that are in chief weight (but not wholly) cashmere, as the category and duty rate are the same as for the corresponding wool item).
  • Overcoats includes carcoats, capes, cloaks, and similar coats.
  • Synthetic MMF includes polyester, acrylic, and nylon.
  • Artificial MMF includes rayon and tencel.
