U.S. Customs and Border Protection announces the availability of the final Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for High Energy X-Ray Inspection Systems (HEXRIS) at sea and land ports of entry for public review through November 5, 2010. Based on the final PEA, a determination was made that the proposed action will not significantly affect the human environment such that further analysis is required. Therefore, a FONSI was issued, and no Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required.

The Los Angeles and Long Beach boards of harbor commissioners will convene a joint meeting on October 6, 2010 to consider the 2010 San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) Update.
The Long Beach City Council has upheld the Port of Long Beach's plans to replace the Gerald Desmond Bridge, clearing the way for the nearly $1 billion project that will improve safety and ease traffic congestion. With a unanimous 8-0 vote, the Council upheld the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners’ August 2010 decision to approve the project’s environmental impact report. Construction is expected to begin as early as next year.

CBP has posted an updated version of its TRQ/TPL "threshold to fill" list, a quick reference to monitor TRQs and TPLs that are approaching their restraint limit or have filled their in-quota (low) rate. The list is divided into two sections: those that are at least 85% filled and those that are filled.
