U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted a January 23, 2012 version of its CF 1400 (Record of Vessel in Foreign Trade Entrances) electronic query report of the Vessel Management System (VMS), in accordance with 19 CFR 4.95, organized by entrances. CBP has also posted a version of its CF 1401 (Record of Vessel in Foreign Trade Clearances) electronic query report of the VMS, in accordance with 19 CFR 4.95, organized by clearances.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of January 23, 2012.
This summary report highlights the most active textile and apparel tariff preference levels1 from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s “Quota Weekly Commodity Status Report.” It also lists the TRQ commodities on CBP’s weekly “TRQ/TPL Threshold to Fill List.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted the January 2012 Change Log for the Customs Automated Manifest Interface Requirements (CAMIR). During this month, changes were made to Appendix D, which provides a complete listing of valid disposition codes. Specifically, the below-listed 28 three-letter event codes used in the ANSI X12 350 set V9 segment in the rail and truck manifests and the CAMIR R06 record in ocean manifest were added. These codes identify the event about which a report is made and advises the carrier, or port authority about postings to a bill of lading.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted information on its National Agriculture Release Program (NARP), which was implemented in 2007. NARP provides a methodology for evaluating high-volume agriculture imports that are low-risk for the introduction of plant pests and plant diseases into the U.S. NARP began prior to the creation of CBP as the Border Cargo Release (BCR) program on the southern border. BCR expedited the entry of high-volume, low-risk commodities entering from Mexico. NARP expands the BCR program to include some agricultural commodities from Mexico as well as other foreign countries.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a correction to a prior memorandum and administrative message on the bond requirements for informal entries, to indicate that a single transaction bond may be used as an alternative to a continuous bond, if filers opt to use a CBP Form 3461 followed by an entry summary.
