CBP has posted an update on the progress of the southwest border fence construction. According to CBP, as of July 16, 2010, CBP has completed roughly 646.5 miles of fencing (348 miles of primary pedestrian fence and 298.5 miles of vehicle fence) along the Southwest Border.

CBP has issued a memorandum announcing a special import quota of 14,717,826 kg for upland cotton that is provided for in HTS Chapter 99, Subchapter III, U.S. Note 6 and is entered under HTS 9903.52.97. (CBP notes that this quantity is not subject to the TRQs in Chapter 52 Additional U.S. Notes 5 through 10.) The quota period is July 29, 2010 - January 24, 2011. To be counted under this quota, the cotton must be imported during this period and purchased not later than October 26, 2010. The opening date was July 29, 2010.
CBP has posted an updated version of its TRQ/TPL "threshold to fill" list, a quick reference to monitor TRQs and TPLs that are approaching their restraint limit or have filled their in-quota (low) rate. The list is divided into two sections: those that are at least 85% filled and those that are filled.

CBP has issued a Unified Business Resumption Messaging message providing an update on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. According to CBP, Pensacola Pass will be closed to vessel traffic during flood tide. In addition, navigation will be restricted in Biloxi Bay near the southeastern portion of Deer Island and will be closed during flood tide and open during ebb. All other waterways are currently open with no restrictions
CBP has posted Amendment 25 to the Customs Automated Manifest Interface Requirements (CAMIR)-Intermodal. The following sections were revised: Appendix D (Disposition Codes) and Appendix F (Schedule K).
