U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has announced that on May 23, 2011, the owner and manager of Tema Media, Inc., a California video store, were arrested on allegations that they illegally imported and sold nearly 25,000 Chinese movie DVDs bearing a counterfeit Dolby Digital trademark with an estimated retail value of $1 million. ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) revealed that the store had imported approximately 85 shipments of these Chinese DVDs from March through October 2010.
CBP has issued a memorandum announcing that the tariff-rate quotas for peanuts from Argentina and Other Countries, provided for in HTS Chapter 12, Additional U.S. Note 2, which opened Friday, April 1, 2011 are still open. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a final determination concerning the country of origin of certain pocket projectors for photos and videos.1 CBP has determined that either China or Taiwan, depending on the manufacturing scenario, is the country of origin of the pocket projectors for purposes of U.S. Government procurement.
