U.S. Customs and Border Protection is announcing an additional 30 day comment period for the proposed extension of its existing Harbor Maintenance Fee (CBP Forms 349 and 350) information collection, which it plans to submit to the Office of Management and Budget for review and approval.

U.S. Custom sand Border Protection has announced that the Van Buren port of entry in Van Buren, Maine will be temporarily closed to all traffic on August 20, 2011 from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. As part of the new port construction, the train trestle will be removed and the road will be closed during this time. All traffic, passenger cars, commercial trucks and pedestrians, are instructed to use alternate ports of entry during these hours, such as the Hamlin port of entry and the Madawaska port of entry.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted an updated list of NEXUS enrollment centers and crossing locations. The list contains the address, hours of operation, and contact information for each NEXUS enrollment center or crossing location.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted information on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). CBP states that a completed Form I-94W, Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver Arrival/Departure Record (green form), is required from all VWP visitors to the U.S. at land ports of entry. Each VWP applicant for admission is exempt from a visitor’s visa (B1/B2) if he/she is a citizen of any of the VWP countries. Currently, authorization for travel under the VWP via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is not required if arriving at a U.S. land port of entry. Form I-94W contains questions that assist with determining admissibility to the U.S. VWP travel authorization via ESTA is required if arriving by air or sea under the VWP. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a final determination that the country of origin of certain digital projectors is Taiwan for purposes of U.S. government procurement, as CBP concluded that the assembly and programming operations performed in Taiwan substantially transform the components of the projectors.
