CBP has issued the following news releases:
CBP has posed the weekly foreign currency exchange rate multipliers for the week ending August 26, 2011.
CBP has posted an updated version of its TRQ/TPL "threshold to fill" list, a quick reference to monitor TRQs and TPLs that are approaching their restraint limit or have filled their in-quota (low) rate. The list is divided into two sections: those that are at least 85% filled and those that are filled.
CBP has posted an updated version of its CF 1400 (Record of Vessel in Foreign Trade Entrances) - an electronic query report for CF 1400 of the Vessel Management System (VMS), in accordance with 19 CFR 4.95, organized by entrances. CBP has also posted an updated CF 1401 (Record of Vessel in Foreign Trade Clearances) - an electronic query report for CF 1401 of the VMS, in accordance with 19 CFR 4.95, organized by clearances.
CBP has issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of August 28, 2011. This report includes TRQs on various products such as beef, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa products, and tobacco; and certain BFTA, DR-CAFTA, Israel FTA, JFTA, MFTA, OFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs; etc. Each report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, BFTA, DR-CAFTA, CBTPA, Haitian HOPE, MFTA, NAFTA, OFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TPLs and TRQs for qualifying textile articles and/or other articles; the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics; etc.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted 18 alerts for air and maritime port closures due to Hurricane Irene. These include 7 alerts for various airports and 11 alerts for various maritime ports.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection states that over the weekend of August 27-28, 2011, CBP deployed programming to support the M1 ocean/rail manifest program in ACE. Inadvertently, a part of this programming caused some ACS ABI entry summaries to receive a "DB error has occurred" rejection of the summary transmission. This issue was corrected at approximately 11:00am, EDT, on August 29. Filers who have not yet resubmitted entries for which the last response was "DB error has occurred" should retransmit the entry to ABI. (CSMS#11-000203)
U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated on Sunday that all New England CBP ports were operational through the weekend (here), and that the Port of Morehead City, North Carolina was expected to have power restored by 10:00 am on August 29, 2011 (here).
In the August 24, 2011 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (Vol. 45, No. 35), CBP published two notices on its revocation and modification of five rulings and similar treatment regarding the tariff classification of polyphenylene sulfide and of certain monoclonal antibody medicaments.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has resolved an ACE Transmitter/Preparer issue that surfaced in the afternoon of August 27, 2011 and had caused a "No Transmitter/Preparer Relationship" reject. CBP announced during the morning of August 28 that the issue had been resolved. See messages announcing problem and that CBP was still working on it here and here.
