U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a CSMS Message (#11-000209) providing a Spanish version of the August 2011 Trade Account Owner (TAO) Update for truck carriers to share with all users of their ACE account.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced that officers at an air cargo consignment facility of Los Angeles International Airport seized eight drums, 520 pounds of methylamine hydrochloride, a known chemical that is used as a precursor to methamphetamine and ecstasy. This amount of methylamine can theoretically produce over 330 pounds of methamphetamine. The shipment arrived from China with a final destination in central Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced that agriculture specialists at the Brownsville port of entry in Texas intercepted Asian Gypsy Moth found on a vessel. On August 25, 2011, the agriculture specialists discovered egg masses on surfaces of the vessel which were confirmed to be eggs of the Asian Gypsy Moth. This interception is only the third time Asian Gypsy Moth has been found in Texas during this fiscal year. This vessel is believed to have traveled to Brownsville from Manzanillo, Mexico and originated in Asia.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced that on August 24, 2011, CBP officers assigned to the World Trade Bridge Export Lot seized a shipment of DVD players valued at $881,000 that infringed on the DVD and Dolby Digital brand names, which are trademarks recorded with CBP. The importer was unable to produce letters of authorization for the use of the trademarks. The merchandise seized included a combined total of 1,160 packages containing 5,800 DVD players.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued CSMS #11-000207 stating that a connectivity issue affecting all CBP trade partners on MPLS that was announced on September 1, 2011 at 6 p.m. was resolved as of 8 a.m. on September 2.
