Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

House Passes Small Business Jobs and Credit Act, Cleared for President

On September 23, 2010, the House passed the Senate-passed version of H.R. 5297, the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act. The Senate-passed version of H.R. 5297 contains various export-related provisions. As a result, H.R. 5297 has been cleared for the President, who is expected to sign it on September 27, 2010. House to Consider Senate's Small Business Jobs and Credit Act on Sept 23

On September 23, 2010, the House is scheduled to consider the Senate-passed version of H.R. 5297, the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act. The Senate-passed version of H.R. 5297 contains various export-related provisions (but the original House-passed version did not). On September 22, 2010, the House Rules Committee granted and reported (H. Res. 1640) a rule which provides for House consideration of the Senate-passed version of H.R. 5297.

Senate Committee Orders Defense Treaty Bill, Treaties Favorably Reported

On September 21, 2010, the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations ordered favorably reported S. 3581, to implement certain defense trade treaties, with an amendment in the nature of a substitute. Also ordered favorably reported were defense treaties between the U.S. and Australia and the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
