The Senate-passed version of H.R. 5297 contains various export-related provisions. As a result, H.R. 5297 has been cleared for the President, who is expected to sign it on September 27, 2010. On September 21, 2010, the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations ordered favorably reported S. 3581, to implement certain defense trade treaties, with an amendment in the nature of a substitute. On September 21, 2010, the Senate rejected an attempt to proceed to consideration of S. 3454, the National Defense Authorization Act. Agreement was reached to continue consideration of the motion to proceed on September 22, 2010.
