In response to the February 9, 2011 testimony of the U.S. Trade Representative before the House Ways and Means Committee, the Chamber of Commerce issued a statement calling for action on the three pending free trade agreements with Korea, Colombia, and Panama. On February 10, 2011, Senator Brown (D) and Representatives Murphy (R), McDermott (D), and Levin (D) plan to introduce the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act of 2011, a bill to give the Administration additional tools to address China’s currency manipulation. Senator Snowe (R) is scheduled to join as an original cosponsor of the legislation. (In 2010, the House passed China currency legislation, but the Senate did not.)
