The Foreign-Trade Zones Board will hold a training event for officials of grantee organizations Sept. 12 in Miami. The outreach event will focus on FTZ regulatory provisions that have a direct impact on grantees, including public utility and uniform treatment. There is no charge, but attendees must RSVP by Sept. 10 by emailing ftz@trade.gov or calling Marsha Foust at (202) 482-2862.
The International Trade Administration received Congressional approval for a consolidation program that will reduce the organization’s business units from four to three, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez said June 14. The move will allow ITA to “better align our services for our stakeholders and our clients,” said Sanchez, speaking at a National Foreign Trade Council event.
The Census Bureau is holding a "Go Global" Webinar June 18 on making contacts with foreign buyers. The webinar will be held in conjunction with the U.S. Commercial Service, which has more than 1,400 trade professionals in the U.S. and abroad to help business link with foreign buyers through trade counseling, business matchmaking and market intelligence. The Census Bureau and Association of Small Business Development Centers are hosting an Automated Export System Compliance Seminar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 25-26. Census Bureau experts will cover Foreign Trade Regulations filing requirements, commodity classification in Schedule B, export control requirements and an overview of AES. The second day will feature an AESPcLink Workshop. Both seminars will be held at Temple University in Philadelphia.
