The Bureau of Industry and Security released two Web-based decision tools to assist exporters in applying the new order of review and specially designed definition in the Commerce Control List. The Web tools are part of BIS’s outreach efforts for the initial implementation of Export Control Reform; the first final rule of the reform effort was published last month (see 13041518). In addition to the CCL Order of Review and Specially Designed definition tools, BIS also released a Strategic Trade Authorization tool, to help users of the License Exception STA to determine if they are eligible and in compliance. Cameron Kerry will take over as Acting Secretary of Commerce June 1, according to an internal letter from current Acting Secretary Rebecca Blank to Commerce Department employees. Blank is to become Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her last day at Commerce will be May 31, she said.
