Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

TTB Delays New Labeling Requirement for Wines Taxed as Hard Cider

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau is delaying a new labeling requirement for containers of wine taxed at a lower tax rate for hard cider, it said. Previously set to begin on Jan. 1, 2018, the agency will now allow until Jan. 1, 2019, before wine bottles subject to the $0.226 tax rate on hard cider must bear the statement “Tax Class 5041(b)(6)” on labels. TTB set the new requirement in a final rule issued in January that broadened its hard cider definition to allow more products to qualify for the lower tax (see 1701200020). TTB is seeking comments by Feb. 2 on the delay of the compliance date, in a separate notice.

OFAC Finds Maritime Registry Violated Iranian Sanctions

The Office of Foreign Assets Control issued a finding of violation to Fairhaven, Massachusetts-based Dominica Maritime Registry for illicitly dealing in the property or interests of property of the National Iranian Tanker Company, part of the government of Iran whose property and interests in property are blocked, OFAC said. Dominica violated the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations by executing a binding memorandum of understanding on July 4, 2015, with the Iranian company, “which OFAC determined was a contingent contract and therefore property in which NITC, a blocked person, had an interest,” OFAC said.
