Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

OFAC Updates SDN List

The Office of Foreign Assets Control has removed 29 entries from its list of Specially Designated Nationals (SDN), under counter-narcotics designations, OFAC said (here). OFAC has also changed two entries on the SDN list under counter-narcotics designations, the agency said.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control has added two individuals under North Korea designations, one individual under nonproliferation designations, and one individual under Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) designations to its Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list, OFAC said (here). OFAC has also added eight entities to the SDN list under North Korea designations, one entity under nonproliferation designations, and one entity under DRC designations, the agency said. OFAC also removed nine individuals from the SDN list under counterterrorism designations, and updated the entries for two entities under North Korea designations.

OFAC also added four individuals and four entities to the SDN list under Syria designations, the agency announced. Further, OFAC added four individuals to the SDN list under counterterrorism designations, the agency said (here).

US, China Pledge Concrete Actions to Allow More Bilateral Meat Trade

The U.S. will allow imports of Chinese cooked poultry and China will allow imports of U.S. beef “as soon as possible,” according to a Treasury fact sheet (here) on initial actions being taken under the two countries’ 100-day plan on economic cooperation (see 1704100008). U.S. and Chinese representatives are to resolve outstanding issues on allowing China cooked poultry into the U.S., and “after reaching consensus,” the U.S. will publish a proposed rule by July 16 at the latest to permit the imports, the fact sheet says. The U.S. and China also agreed that China will allow imports of U.S. beef no later than July 16, following international food safety and animal health standards consistent with the bilateral 1999 Agricultural Cooperation Agreement, after delegations hold one more round of technical consultations, the fact sheet says.
