The Document Image System will allow CBP to respond to filers when document reviews are done in DIS for email document submissions, beginning June 11, the agency said in a CSMS message April 30. CBP also will add the ability to respond to filers through DIS regardless of the review status for automated broker interface submissions, the agency said, and will add three review status options -- accepted, rejected or under review -- for all document submissions.

CBP and Canon USA announced a new partnership to help prevent counterfeit goods from entering the U.S., they said in separate news releases April 23. Canon, under CBP's Donations Acceptance Program (see 2401260026), will donate 328 verification tools to CBP cargo and mail facilities to "aid in authenticating a variety of Canon merchandise," CBP said.

When a declaration is made on the Automated Commercial Environment portal, the system will automatically check for duplicate Harmonized Tariff Schedule numbers, case numbers and manufacturer IDs before submission is permitted, CBP said. This was part of a series of updates CBP made to the ACE Portal that was highlighted in an April 25 CSMS message.
