Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "forced labor").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD CBP).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., tariffs +Canada).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., FDA -alert).

Simplest form: Use the simplest form of a term (e.g. "metal" instead of "metals" or "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP User Fee Committee Recommends Elimination of Cash Fee Collection at Border

The CBP User Fee Advisory Committee (UFAC) made a wide range of recommendations at its most recent meeting, including the elimination of cash fee collections at the border. CBP posted a list of the recommendations from Process Improvements Subcommittee (here) and Financial Assessment and Options Subcommittee (here). The committee also recommended requiring all trucks to use eManifest, because the use of paper manifest means "requiring extensive extra time of Officers in primary inspection to process them while causing delay time of trucks behind them in line," it said.

Seattle Port Office to Cease Cargo Release Processing

CBP will no longer process cargo releases at the Seattle Port Office as of Aug. 1, it said in a Trade Information Notice. The change is meant "to better align resources and prepare for the transition of Seattle Entry Branch staffing to the Centers of Excellence and Expertise," said CBP. "Please direct any persons and/or paperwork required for cargo release to the individual Ports within the Seattle Area Port." Any general cargo release questions should also go to the specific port involved, it said. The notice lists the documents that will be processed at the trade offices. Also as of Aug. 1, several types of post cargo release entry documents, including CBP 7501 package submissions and warehouse withdrawals, must to to the Seattle Entry Branch rather than Tacoma Trade Office, it said.
