The Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations (COAC) for CBP will next meet Oct. 29 in Washington, CBP said in a notice (here).
CBP Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske laid out some expectations for the customs broker industry as the profession evolves alongside the agency during a speech at a National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America conference on Sept. 28. "CBP’s vision for the future Professional Broker is one that includes adapting to technology changes, maintaining expertise in compliance, while balancing responsibilities to clients and the law," he said (here). "Future changes include removing district boundaries, creating opportunities for brokers to leverage automation, expand your geographic reach, and increase your level of service and professional value."

CBP issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of Sept. 28. This report (here) includes TRQs on various products such as beef, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa products, and tobacco; and certain BFTA, DR-CAFTA, Israel FTA, JFTA, MFTA, OFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs, etc. Each report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, BFTA, DR-CAFTA, CBTPA, Haitian HOPE, MFTA, NAFTA, OFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TPLs and TRQs for qualifying textile articles and/or other articles; the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc.
CBP posted minutes of the meeting held July 29 by the Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations (COAC) (here). The meeting included a lengthy discussion of COAC’s recommendation to delay CBP’s deadline for Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) cargo release and entry summary (see 1507290066).
