The State Department Advisory Committee on Private International Law plans a public meeting by teleconference of the Study Group on the Hague Convention on Choice of Court Agreements. The call will begin at 1 p.m. ET Jan. 4, it said. The call will discuss a new version of draft federal legislation that will be circulated to participants prior to the meeting. It said the new version differs from earlier draft texts in two key respects: (1) the new version adopts a shorter form; and (2) the new version does not contemplate parallel federal and state implementing legislation. It's a potential alternative to the earlier texts, which remain under consideration but to date have not achieved sufficient support, the State Department said. The meeting is open to the public. Those planning to participate should contact Tricia Smeltzer, smeltzertk@state.gov or 202-776-8423.
The State Department Shipping Coordinating Committee is to meet at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 20, and Jan. 10, at the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM), suite 605, 1611 N. Kent St., Arlington Va., State said, updating the location of the meetings.
