Abu Sayyaf Group, originally named a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2008, will remain as such, the State Department said. State, along with the Treasury Department and the Attorney General’s office, reviewed the group’s designation and found the reasons for Abu Sayyaf’s designation have not substantially changed.

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded a $610,000 grant to develop a wind farm on a Chilean island, the agency announced April 16. The Tablaruca Wind Company will use the grant to create the farm, which will supply about 99 megawatts, on the island of Chiloé, USTDA said.

The State Department issued a permit allowing Michigan to build a bridge linking Detroit and Windsor, Ontario. The presidential permit authorizing Michigan to “construct, connect, operate and maintain” the border bridge was issued April 11.

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded a $494,000 grant to a district government in China’s southern Panyu District to assist with traffic management, the agency announced April 12. The grant will support completion of a feasibility study and pilot project to deploy an intelligent transportation system for traffic management in Panyu, and showcase U.S. technology at six intersections, USTDA said.
The Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee of the Export-Import Bank is holding a special open meeting on April 30, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. ET in Washington D.C. The meeting will include updates on recent developments in Sub-Saharan Africa markets by Ex-Im staff, and discussion of current challenges and opportunities for U.S. exporters. The meeting will be open to public participation. Members of the public may also file written statements before or after the meeting.
