The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee (SHC) will hold a public meeting in Washington, D.C. on April 29 to prepare for a International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee session, slated to be held at the IMO headquarters in the United Kingdom from May 13-23. The SHC meeting will focus on maritime security and cargo and containers, among other subjects. The State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) updated on March 20 the list (here) of foreign persons approved for State licensing for commercial communications satellite components, systems, parts, accessories, attachments and associated technical data. DDTC also updated the list (here) of approved commercial communications satellites programs. The persons are exclusively from countries that comprise North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Major Non-NATO allies, and the programs are exclusively owned and operated by entities in those allied countries.

The State Department is asking for public comment on environmental regulations and implementation in the Dominican Republic-Central America-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR), as the FTA environmental affairs council prepares to convene its eighth meeting. The public session of the meeting will be held on April 3 at Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, La. Comments must be submitted by March 28. Comments may be submitted to State official Eloise Canfield at CanfieldM2@state.gov or Office of the U.S. Trade Representative official Sarah Stewart at Sarah_Stewart@ustr.eop.gov.
The State Department’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law will conduct a public meeting on international commercial contracts on March 20 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in Washington D.C. This is not a meeting of the full advisory committee. The committee Study Group on Choice of Law in International Commercial Contracts will conduct the meeting. The State Department Advisory Committee on Private International Law Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Study Group will hold a public meeting on March 14 in Washington D.C. The committee members plan to discuss the next session of the UN Commission on International Trade Law ODR working group, scheduled for March 24-28 in New York City. The UN ODR working group is in the process of developing ODR rules for resolution of cross-border electronic commerce disputes, which may include a cross-border enforcement mechanism and other provisions.
