Amazon hired Arrow Augerot, previously acting assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Congressional Affairs, as senior manager-public policy, a company spokeswoman said.
The Footwear Distributors & Retailers of America on Dec. 5 named President Matt Priest its CEO, the association said (here). Priest had been FDRA president since 2009. Prior to that he was deputy assistant secretary and senior trade adviser to the Commerce secretary and a senior congressional legislative aide, FDRA said.
Akin Gump hired Justin McCarthy, previously a lobbyist at Peck Madigan, as a senior adviser, the firm said in a news release (here). McCarthy also previously worked as assistant U.S. Trade Representative for congressional affairs.
The National Foreign Trade Council hired Vanessa Sciarra, previously vice president with the Emergency Committee for American Trade, as vice president for legal affairs and trade and investment policy, the NFTC said in a news release (here). She also previously worked as an assistant general counsel in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and as a partner in law firm Cassidy Levy.
Sandler Travis hired Steven Brotherton, previously with Fragomen Worldwide, to lead the law firm's Export Controls and Sanctions practice in San Francisco, Sandler Travis said (here). Fragomen and Sandler Travis will also collaborate on export control matters in the future, the firm said.
Former U.S. Trade Representative Ronald Kirk, now with law firm Gibson Dunn, will join the Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation board of directors, the company said (here).
Baker Botts has hired Lisa Kattan, previously senior investigative attorney in the International Trade Commission Office of Unfair Import Investigations, the law firm said (here).
Angela Collins of Willson International was elected chair of the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers at the CSCB National Conference on Sept. 26. The previous chair, Kim Campbell of mkmarin trade services, remains on the CSCB board in the position of immediate past chair.
Sandler Travis hired Domenic Veneziano, previously director of the Food and Drug Administration Division of Import Operations, as an "independent" consultant, the law firm said (here). Veneziano retired from FDA over the summer (see 1607270026).
Adams Lee, previously with White & Case in Washington, D.C., joined Harris Moure in Seattle last month. Lee has experience in antidumping and countervailing duty cases and other issues, Harris Moure partner Bill Perry said in a blog post (here).
