The International Trade Commission named Jennifer Andberg, previously deputy director of the Department of Commerce’s Office of Business Liaison, director of the Office of External Relations, the agency said in a news release. Among other duties, she will serve as ITC liaison with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

Morrison & Foerster added John Smith, previously director of the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, as a partner in the firm's National Security Practice, it said in a news release.

Candace Sider, vice president of government and regulatory affairs North America at Livingston International, was appointed chair of the International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations, the IFCBA said in a news release. Sider represents the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers on the IFCBA board. Her term is 2018-2020. Geoff Powell, the former president of the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, represents the U.S., the IFCBA said.

Mark Benedict will succeed Tom Sneeringer as president of the Committee to Support U.S. Trade Laws, the group said in an emailed news release. Benedict is managing partner of Genesis Group, a lobbying firm that "supports the activities of U.S. businesses that use the antidumping and countervailing duty laws to address unfair trade practices by offshore competitors," CSUSTL said. Sneeringer retired as of June 30, it said.

The National Association of Manufacturers hired Jessica McBroom, previously compliance manager at JP Morgan Chase, as director of trade facilitation policy, the association said in a July 9 news release.

Doug Stearn, previously director of the Office of Enforcement and Import Operations at the Food and Drug Administration, is now acting director for regulatory affairs in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, according to an FDA organization chart. Armando Zamora, who was deputy director in the Office of Enforcement and Import Operations, is now acting director, according to another chart.

Craig Allen, U.S. ambassador in Brunei since 2014, will become president of the U.S.-China Business Council July 26, the organization announced June 5. He will replace John Frisbie, who has led the group since 2004. Allen was posted to China in the Foreign Service, and was senior commercial officer in Beijing from 2002 to 2005, managing Commerce's staff in China from multiple agencies. He has also served as deputy assistant secretary for China at the Commerce Department and deputy assistant secretary for Asia in Commerce's International Trade Administration.

King & Spalding hired Bradford Ward, previously director of the Interagency Center on Trade Implementation, Monitoring, and Enforcement at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the law firm said in a news release. In his practice group, Government Matters, Ward will focus on international trade policy, market access and trade remedy litigation.

Steptoe & Johnson hired Arun Venkataraman, previously director of policy in the Commerce Department's International Trade Administration, as trade and investment policy adviser, the law firm said in a news release.

The Electronic Components Industry Association named Alison Harris, director of international trade compliance for the Americas at Avnet, to chair the international trade compliance group for its recently formed Global Industry Practices Council. The trade compliance group "will work to identify global trade compliance issues and provide best practice guidance within the electronic components authorized channel," the ECIA said in an emailed news release.
