Arnold and Porter hired Lynn Fischer Fox, previously deputy assistant secretary for Policy and Negotiations in the Commerce Department's International Trade Administration, the firm said (here). Fox joined the firm's International Trade practice as counsel, it said.
Hughes Hubbard hired Dean Pinkert, previously a commissioner on the International Trade Commission, as a partner in the law firm's international trade group, it said (here).
Wiley Rein hired Stephen Claeys, previously trade counsel on the House Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee, as a partner in its International Trade Practice, the law firm said on Feb. 21 (here). Claeys will focus on trade remedies and customs enforcement issues, among other things, Wiley Rein said.
Mayer Brown hired Tamer Soliman to head up the firm’s Export Controls and Economic Sanctions group in its International Trade practice, the firm announced (here). Soliman, previously with Akin Gump, will be based in Mayer’s Washington office but will spend “substantial time” in the firm’s growing Dubai office, Mayer said.
UPS hired Maria Luisa Boyce as director, Global Public Affairs, a spokeswoman for the company said. Boyce previously was senior trade adviser at CBP (see 1611180018).
Livingston International named Daniel McHugh its CEO, the company announced Feb. 2 (here). McHugh was most recently CEO of U.S. cargo airline Southern Air, where he led “widespread transformation,” before “a successful sale” of the company in April, Livingston said.
Former U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman is joining the Council on Foreign Relations as a distinguished fellow this month, CFR said in a statement (here). His work will focus on trade and investment policy, international economic policy and trends, and “globalization and populism,” CFR said.
BGI Worldwide Logistics hired Giselle Rodriguez as an in-house customs broker, the company said in a news release (here). Rodriguez joined the company as its manager, U.S. customhouse broker services and compliance, BGI said. "We are committed to providing the best import/export experiences for our international clients, BGI CEO Gabriel Shweiri said. "We believe that adding a licensed customs broker to our services portfolio delivers an exceptional import logistics capability for our new and existing clients.”
Vince Iacopella joined Alba Wheels Up International as executive vice president of growth and strategy. Iacopella, formerly of The Janel Group, is currently trade co-chair of the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee.
David Cunningham will take over as CEO of FedEx Express, the FedEx air cargo subsidiary, FedEx said in a news release (here). Cunningham previously was chief operating officer at FedEx Express, it said. He replaces David Bronczek, who was promoted to COO at the FedEx parent corporation.
