Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

More Stringent Chinese Organic Requirements Began July 1, says FAS

More stringent requirements for organic food imports into China went into effect July 1, according to a Foreign Agricultural Service Global Agricultural Information Network report. The new Chinese organic law forbids any organic products to be marketed as organic without the Chinese organic label. The standards are more stringent on the production environment, food safety, pesticide residue, and overall quality controls, FAS said. Additionally, detailed input and product lists were also recently implemented.

FSIS to Hold Public Meeting for Codex Fish Committee Sept. 6

The Food Safety and Inspection Service announced a public meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 6 in College Park, Md., to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items and draft U.S. positions that will be discussed at the 32nd session of the Codex Committee on Fish and Fishery Products (CCFFP), which will be held in Bali, Indonesia from October 1-5, 2012. The meeting is cosponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Food and Drug Administration.
