Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CPSC Warns Window Covering Industry to Eliminate Cord Risks

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has posted Chairman Tenenbaum's remarks at the Window Covering Manufacturers Association stakeholders meeting which was held at CPSC on November 9, 2010. The meeting was held to discuss revisions to the ANSI standard for window coverings, which are expected to be finalized in 2010. The Chairman warned that this time, industry must eliminate and not just mitigate, the risks that cords pose to children. The event involved retailers, consumer advocates, and representatives of CPSC, Health Canada, and the European Union.

CPSC Set to Vote Nov 17 on Public Database Final Rule

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is scheduled to vote November 17, 2010 on a final rule to establish a publicly available and searchable database of consumer product safety incidents, as required by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008. Two CPSC Commissioners Propose Alternative Public Database Rule

Commissioners Nord and Northup of the Consumer Product Safety Commission have proposed an alternative rule to CPSC's debated draft final rule to establish a publicly available and searchable database on consumer product safety incidents, as required by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA).

A public-private organization will provide produce growers and packagers with fundamental, on-farm food safety knowledge, in advance of a proposed produce safety regulation, according to a Food and Drug Administration, USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA/AMS), and Cornell University announcement issued on November 4, 2010.
