Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Sánchez ended a four-day trade policy trip to Peru and Colombia by reinforcing the critical role exports play in supporting economic growth and job creation in the U.S. and abroad. At events in both Lima and Bogota, Sánchez met with American businesses and discussed how increasing trade with Peru and Colombia will help achieve the goals of President Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI).

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator Ferro testified on June 23, 2010 before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure's Subcommittee on Highways and Transit on its new safety initiative, Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010. CSA 2010 is a risk-based approach for reducing large truck and bus crashes. It will also enable FMCSA and its State partners to address the safety deficiencies of a much larger segment of the motor carrier industry.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and the International Trade Administration (ITA), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Commerce, will hold a public meeting on July 27, 2010 in Washington, DC to discuss the relationship between cybersecurity in the commercial space and innovation in the Internet economy.
