Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "forced labor").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD CBP).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., tariffs +Canada).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., FDA -alert).

Simplest form: Use the simplest form of a term (e.g. "metal" instead of "metals" or "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

TTB Requests Comments on Proposed Tobacco Tax Standards

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau is issuing an advance notice of proposed rulemaking and requests comments on proposed standards to distinguish between pipe tobacco and roll-your-own tobacco for Federal excise tax purposes based upon certain physical characteristics of the two products. Comments are due by September 20, 2010.

FHWA Seeks Proposals for FY 2012 International Scanning Program

The Federal Highway Administration has announced that it is seeking proposals for the fiscal year 2012 cycle of the International Technology Scanning Program (ITSP). The ITSP enables U.S. highway professionals to evaluate innovative technologies and practices in other countries that could significantly improve highway transportation in the U.S. Proposals are due by September 30, 2010.

APHIS Agricultural Clearance PPQ Manual Updated

On July 21, 2010, APHIS updated the Manual for Agricultural Clearance. The manual provides CBP personnel working at airport and maritime locations with the guidelines, directions, and policy for clearing carriers and passengers/crew and controlling garbage and cargo.
