U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that the New Orleans client representative branch office will be closed on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 due to the observance of the local Mardi Gras holiday. CBP states that the office will reopen on Wednesday, February 6, 2008.
Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the CBP's electronic system through which the international trade community reports imports and exports and the government determines admissibility.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection sources, two truck Automated Commercial Environment updates that were scheduled to be implemented on Saturday, January 26, 2008 are now rescheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2008.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted an updated version of its "ACE Workplan Schedule," which provides a list of the changes and/or fixes to the Automated Commercial Environment and other systems it interfaces with that were scheduled for deployment on December 15, 2007 and January 26, 2008. CBP has previously stated that this list contains only those changes and/or fixes that impact the trade community.
On January 26, 2008, U.S. Customs and Border Protection was scheduled to implement an Automated Commercial Environment update to enable electronic in-bond requests filed via the Automated Broker Interface message QP1 to update a shipment that is reported in a truck ACE e-manifest with a shipment release type of Pre-Arrival Processing System (PAPS2).

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has upgraded its CBP.gov homepage. According to a CBP news release on the upgrade, this is the first in a series of upgrades designed to provide a modernized, user-friendly Web site. The new homepage features more and larger photos, a rotating news ticker and streamlined layout. Future upgrades will simplify the navigation structure and improve users' experience with second level feature pages. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued its Performance and Accountability Report for Fiscal Year 2007 which contains certain performance data concerning CBP's progress in achieving, among other things, the six strategic goals that are set forth in CBP's Strategic Plan for FYs 2005-2010.
