CPSC Proposes Amendments to Garage Door Opener Safety Standard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission intends to amend its mandatory safety standard for residential garage door openers to reflect changes to an industry voluntary standard, it said in a proposed rule (here). Under the proposal, CPSC’ Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators would be changed to include entrapment protection provisions recently added to Underwriters Laboratories’ UL 325 standard. Any final rule would take effect 30 days after its date of publication.
