2. Port of Export Added in AES

The Census Bureau has issued an Automated Export System broadcast stating that the following new Port of Export code has been added in AES and is effective immediately: Port Code - 2792; Port Name - DHS-HUB, Riverside, CA. (Broadcast 2008032 is available via email by sending a request here.)

3. AESDirect Program and AES Mainframe Connection Restored

The Census Bureau has issued an AES broadcast announcing that the connection between the AESDirect Program and the AES mainframe has been restored and is operating normally again. (Census issued an earlier broadcast announcing that AESDirect was experiencing connectivity issues with the mainframe.) 4. Taiwan Firm Settles Charges of Illegal Computer Chip Exports to China

The Bureau of Industry and Security has announced that Johnson Trading & Engineering Company, Ltd. of Taiwan agreed to a $90,000 civil penalty to settle charges that it knowingly caused the unlicensed export of computer chips to China in violation of the Export Administration Regulations. 5. Two Companies Submit Letters of Intent to Enroll in LA Clean Truck Program

The Port of Los Angeles reports that it has received letters of intent from Swift Transportation, Inc., and Knight Transportation (NYSE: KNX), two major national motor carriers that plan to become port drayage concessionaires under the Port of LA Clean Truck Program (CTP). 6. CARB Celebrates Launch of Clean Trucks Program, Proposition 1B Funding

The California Air Resources Board has joined forces with the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to celebrate the opening of a Clean Trucks Center and invite truckers to apply for funds to replace their dirty diesel vehicles with new clean models. 98 million dollars comes from Proposition 1B, the Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, Air Quality and Port Security Bond Act; it is the single largest Prop 1B air quality grant this year, and is designated solely to facilitate cleanup of trucks that serve Los Angeles and Long Beach ports. 7. LA/LB Ports Brief and Declarations for Clean Truck Program Posted

The Port of Long Beach has posted the LA/LB legal brief and declarations it submitted in response to the preliminary injunction motion from the American Trucking Associations (ATA) that seeks to stop the ports' Clean Truck Program concession requirement. 8. EPA Corrects Comment Date for Its NAFTA Pesticide Strategy

The Environmental Protection Agency hasissued a notice correcting the due date for comments received in response to the release of its proposed Five-Year Strategy, 2008-2013, of the North American Free Trade Agreement Technical Working Group on Pesticides. 9. CBSA Posts Memo on Waterproof Footwear, Etc. from China
