ITA is Accepting Applications from U.S. Weavers For Allocation of 2006 TRQ on Certain Worsted Wool Fabric
The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice announcing that it is accepting applications from persons (including firms, corporations, or other legal entities) who weave worsted wool fabrics in the U.S. with an average fiber diameter of 18.5 microns or less, which is suitable for making men's and boys' suits, for an allocation of the 2006 tariff rate quota (TRQ) of 2,000,000m2, as provided for in HTS 9902.51.16.

The ITA states that in order to be considered, applications must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. on October 3, 2005. According to the ITA, application forms and instructions are available at http://web.ita.doc.gov/tacgi/wooltrq.nsf/TRQApp/fabric.
ITA to Notify Applicants of 2006 TRQ Allocations, Etc.
The ITA states that it will publish in the Federal Register its determination to allocate the 2006 TRQ and will notify applicants of their respective allocation as soon as possible after that date. Promptly thereafter, the ITA will issue licenses to eligible applicants.
2004 Miscellaneous Trade Bill Created TRQ for U.S. Weavers
The Miscellaneous Trade Act of 2004, provided the ITA with authority to allocate a TRQ under HTS 9902.51.16 for the benefit of persons (including firms, corporations, or other legal entities) who weave certain worsted wool fabric in the U.S. that is suitable for making men's and boys' suits. The TRQ for HTS 9902.51.16 provides for temporary reductions in the import duties on 2,000,000 m2 annually for 2005 and 2006.
